Oxygen (O₂) is one of the most abundant elements on Earth, constituting approximately 21% of the atmosphere by volume. Under standard temperature and pressure conditions, it is a colorless, odorless, tasteless diatomic gas.
As a vital substance supporting aerobic life, oxygen is chemically reactive and readily undergoes oxidation reactions with metals as well as various organic and inorganic materials.
Industrial-grade oxygen is extracted from air using air separation technology. Currently, two main production methods dominate: cryogenic air separation (utilizing low-temperature liquefaction and fractional distillation for purification) and vacuum (VSA) separation.
